Approximately 70% of Americans are obese. Most people have tried to achieve their goal of weight loss relying entirely on diet and exercise. While this may work for some but does not for many. Medical studies have shown that weight loss success is much higher for those under Medical Physicians supervision.

Understanding Weight Gain & Obesity

Most Doctors utilize BMI to determine if their patient is overweight or obese. BMI (Body Mass Index) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. You can utilize the included chart to help calculate your BMI.

A high BMI can lead to other medical conditions such as Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases, High Blood Pressure, gallstones and more. According to CDC and medical experts, people with a BMI over 25 can be at a higher risk to these medical conditions.

Weight Loss Journey

Dr. Moskowitz tailors a medical weight loss regimen based on each individual patient. Making sure with lifestyle changes in diet, exercise and medications, his patients achieve the goals they desire. In the past, most weight loss medications consisted of pills. Pills generally did not have consistent results and were associated with many side effects.

After much research and confirmation, there are now many FDA approved medications with much higher rates of success in weight loss. Semaglutide copies a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). It goes after areas of the brain which control appetite and food intake. There are several versions of this product. The two most common ones are Ozempic and Wegovy. Ozempic is used in Type 2 diabetes and has side benefits of weight loss. Wegovy is approved specifically for weight loss, without the need of having diabetes.

The medicines are injected under the skin every week.  The dose starts low and is increased every four weeks until the recommended dose is reached to achieve the most weight loss with the least side effects.  Most patients on these medications, with a lifestyle change, achieve a weight loss of 10% and higher. This level of weight loss can have significant benefits on one’s overall health.

Dr. Moskowitz and his staff have extensive experience with these medications and obtaining approvals from insurances to make sure you can start your weight loss journey immediately.
